What Happened To The Private Affairs Forum?

The Private Affairs forum has long been a fixture of the old website, PrivateAffairs.com.

It went through several iterations over the years. The forums were formerly hosted on Network54, and in the late 2000s they moved the forums to a PHPBB forum hosted on a separate server.

Private Affairs was a dating website for married individuals engaged in extramarital affairs. The Private Affairs forum was a safe place where those engaged in extramarital affairs could talk about emotions, problems, staying safe and otherwise vent.

The forums were linked from the Private Affairs main page, but were also able to be directly entered into the address bar in a browser by typing privateaffairs.com/PForum2

It was PForum2 because of an upgrade to the forum software. The original was PForum or PForum 1 or something (I don't recall exactly).

Alas, the Private Affairs dating website was not as popular as other sites such as AshleyMadison.com  PlentyofFish.com OKCupid.com and others. The main website sort of still works, but the forums, over a period of years, became unstable. They crashed often. Finally, at the end of July or early August 2013, they crashed for the last time and were never revived.

When it became obvious that the owners of PrivateAffairs.com were not going to continue to support and maintain the PForum2, several of us who were members on that site created a safe landing place for our friends who we had come to know (well, by their screen names, not by their real names) where we could continue to share information, support each other, and vent.

We affectionately call our new temporary home the PForum3. It can be found at PForum3.forumatic.com

The PForum3 is a labor of love. There is no advertising and no commercialization. It is just a safe(er) place for people to share.

I say safe(er) because this is, after all, the internet, and nobody should be posting personally identifiable information online. Especially people involved in extramarital affairs.
